I'm honestly not much of a poet. I mostly took this class because my adviser suggested me to. I guess why I went through with it is because I'm very much an adventurous soul. I love getting lost in new places. Writing is like that for me. I'm only used to writing fiction. Going into a different form of writing such as poetry will just be another new adventure. I really enjoy the "muse" idea. In the poems I have written for this class, it's helped create new stories within!

I agree, I am not really experienced with this poetry thing myself, but I have always been interested in the genre. Fiction, nonfiction, and screenwriting are my three tracks I've taken here, but I am glad I took this in my last semester before I graduate. I like the Muse ideas, but I'm not sure how they're gonna turn out, but I am excited for workshop. Overall, this class is pretty good so far, and I can't wait to see what else it offers.
I agree, I actually have always had trouble labeling myself as a kind of specific writer. I find myself tending to write just small blurbs, long stories, or whatever comes to mind. But, that is the great thing of being a writer, it is just a great way to "lose" yourself within your own mind. And let those emotions or expressions be proof of it on paper. I am sure, this class will be great and help you develop as a writer even more!
I'm not much of a poet either! And I agree with you in the sense that writing is like getting lost in a new place because everything is foreign. Who knew that poems could be so complex? Meter, iambic pentameter, personification, and similies! It all can be so much to take in at once. Poetry is kind of like writing fiction,I'm sure your background in that will help you excel in this class! I also agree that the poems we have written create new stories because each muse poem is encouraged to be written based on a certain poet's writing style.
I know what you mean by "getting lost in new places." I love a new challenge. I have been writing poetry for a little while now and sometimes even now I get stuck. I follow poets like Senghor, Baudelaire and Yeats. Even though I have been writing poetry for a while, when I started the poetry class I know some stuff but, I was really shocked with the stuff I didn't know.
