After getting through the first day of workshop I definitely have a few thoughts on what happened. I found it very interesting to find out how everybody writes and what they are writing about. My favorite poem that we read was First Base...Surprise! That poem was very funny and I was laughing almost immediately after I got through the first stanza. I never would have thought that I would have been reading a poem about sneezing on your girlfriend. Another poem I really enjoyed was the Mayakovsky inspired poem about the ameobas. It read very fast and had an interesting rhythm to it. I also really enjoy the imagery with this poem. I recall hearing words like “pus” and “sludge” throughout. It seemed really relaxing in my opinion, to get to actually hear other students works and feed off of everyones ideas. There was no harsh critiquing or anything like that, just everyone giving their thoughts and opinions about the specific students work. I think that workshop is going to be very benefitial to everyone in the class.
