Ideas 2

I started on this topic in an earlier post.. and I figured I could probably expand on it. For me the pleasing part of poetry is the sounds poems create and the specific words. Not the phrases and lines that are used or even the message. It's nice to understand what you're reading but sometimes I honestly just don't. Or I'll roughly get it but not exactly. Anyway I more appreciate the music of poetry. Back to my point now.. Sometimes throughout the day I might get a certain few words in my head that I think sound cool together. I might even get a few different lines going together in my head.. And I'll be honest it sucks if I'm nowhere that I can put these on paper or on a computer and I lose them. But I've actually put lines into my phone for a later time before. I don't really know where these ideas come from but it doesn't really matter. Perhaps my... Muse? Well anyway I was wondering what people do when they're randomly struck with a good thought. Maybe you punch random things into your phone like I do.

I keep a notepad with me when ever I can, to take down notes. I have stuff on it that I might use tomorrow and I have stuff on it that is 5 years old that will fit somewhere one of these days. A lot of the stuff I think of though, I HAVE to write down for later, otherwise it will distract me from whatever I am doing and I won't be able to concentrate if I don't.

I have this same dilemma. I don't have a phone and i rarely remember to bring a notepad with me. I think I may begin though. I think it's interesting that you find the sound of poetry more important and interesting than the topical content. Not saying that one reason to read poetry is better than the other, but I like poetry for the content. I like the images I get in my mind rather than the sound they make. Some people are more moved by sounds and some are more moved by sight. I like seeing so the sound of the words don't mean as much to me as the images they make in my mind.
