The Eyes That See All

Posted by Barbara

Hi, I thought I would post another poem that I have written!  This one was inspired by a few different things, but it ended up coming together I think.  Thank you everyone who has read my last post, and for the feedback!  I really appreciate it.  Enjoy!

The Eyes That See All
The black-colored sky tells me I should still be in bed,
But the rope on my heart draws me closer, closer
To the cemetery, to have
One
Final
Word.
To have
One
Final
Thought.
To say my last
g  o  o  d   b  y  e.
And the man with the name not quite like his son's
Clings to a faded picture, like a baby clings to their mother's arm.
And the rain just
P  o  u  r  s
As if tears from Heaven are just
Falling, falling like a tree in a silent forest
Or a black avalanche crashing, crashing to the ground
Like angry waves against the ragged shore.
My owl-eyes see everything,
And can feel the presence of absence.
Can see that the stars aren't shining,
Like the eyes of our four lone faces.
I can now see the emptiness of the parties,
The music now haunted in my soul,
Reverberating everything.
Like a flowers seed
I go with the wind.
I hear its mysterious whispers,
I know its horrific sins.

Thank you for reading! :-)

Hello,

I really enjoed your poem. I liked the use of elongating words but sepearting them with spaces. When I was reading the few lines with single words it had a deffinete rythem to it. Just kind of like dum dum dum dum. Which I felt was very clever good work!

This was a really great poem! The way you composed the lines, especially when using single words, gave it a lot of power. Also, I think you used repetition perfectly. I think some poets can tend to overuse it in their poetry and it loses its strength, but it just added to how much I enjoyed reading yours. Really enjoyable poem!
