While referring to a "muse" as an inspiration is new to me, I'm familiar with free writing and letting a poem flow.
Here's a recent example called "Black + White" inspired by a 1940s detective movie.
Black + White
These headlines trending,
condescending,
read like the world isn't ending.
"this isn't YOUR fault", black + white
Headlines holler,
like a film noir
Where shadowy bad guys slip fedoras over their eyes
and "Maltese Falcon" detectives investigate lies-
But life is full of technicolor complexity
instead of grayscale, colorscheme
scheming always to deceive. I've
got uncovering ahead of me
To find the villain in this story
I've got some leads, but waiting for me
The surprise twist ending waits in my apartment-
Climactic action reveals intent
But you aren't
safe until everyone around you folds. Even then
It's wise to hold
your cards close to your bulletproof vest.
(And yes, there's a .45 in this dress)
But I
will play the hapless Hitchcock victim
the witless witness, until I can
reveal steely thoughts under platinum hair.
my secret weapon is
being more than I appear
although you may not see it quite
sharply enough
in black + white.
